I can feel it
The air on my skin
There is something in that air
That air
That air
It smells sweet
Almost too sweet
Like some cookies just out of the oven
The oven
The oven
I turn around and look
At first there is nothing
Then I see it
See it
See it
Its the world
In all its glory
Shinning like there's no tomorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow

Poem: Run
No time for questions
No time to explain
No time to ask
No time to answer
No time to do anything else
No time to think about anything else
No time to will for anything else to happen
No time to look at anything else
Just run
Run away from here
Run to some other place
Run till your legs collapse from under you
Run till you are out of breath
Run till I tell you to stop
Run through all obstacles
Run over the water
Run on top of the trees
Why?
Because the toad is about to croak
No time to explain
No time to ask
No time to answer
No time to do anything else
No time to think about anything else
No time to will for anything else to happen
No time to look at anything else
Just run
Run away from here
Run to some other place
Run till your legs collapse from under you
Run till you are out of breath
Run till I tell you to stop
Run through all obstacles
Run over the water
Run on top of the trees
Why?
Because the toad is about to croak

Poem: Flying Through the Sky
Written by Maya
Laying on the grass gazing out at the stars
So far away, yet close enough to tickle them with my fingertips
They are the mystery of the world, the only thing we dare not disturb
But I feel connected, as if an invisible link is pulling me closer to them
I share with them my secrets, my thoughts, gushing out like a bubbly fountain
Reaching my hand out, bringing one down so close to me
Holding her to my heart she becomes part of me
And suddenly I am flying high, high above the ground, the star, my star, guiding me up
Her voice echos in my head as I breath out in wonder
“Welcome home, my beloved sister”
And I am home, among the stars as I was always meant to be
I feel their cool touch calming me as I am slowly transformed
Smaller and smaller until I am one of them, glowing brightly against the dark sky
I close my eyes, their awesome presence reassuring me
And then all at once I am shooting across the horizon like a magnificent phoenix in flight
The wind in my face as my trail stains the midnight sky
Falling down into the depths of space
But then I hear a voice call my name
Not one of my star sisters, but one of the others
Persistently saying my name over and over again until I open my eyes
I am surprised at what I see
Not the stars whizzing past me, but the stars in the sky endless miles away
As I come to my senses I realize I am no longer flying through the sky, but lying on the wet grass
Looking up at myself shooting across the sky up towards the moon, then down towards the horizon
Once again I am home
Laying on the grass gazing out at the stars
So far away, yet close enough to tickle them with my fingertips
They are the mystery of the world, the only thing we dare not disturb
But I feel connected, as if an invisible link is pulling me closer to them
I share with them my secrets, my thoughts, gushing out like a bubbly fountain
Reaching my hand out, bringing one down so close to me

Poem: Carpet - a Pantoum
the softness under foot
the fuzziness
the tassels
the carpet is beautiful
the fuzziness
the design
the carpet is beautiful
the pattern
the design
flowing like the wind
the pattern
the work of a skilled artist
flowing the the wind
the carpet is beautiful
the work of a skilled artist
this is a carpet
the fuzziness
the tassels
the carpet is beautiful
the fuzziness
the design
the carpet is beautiful
the pattern
the design
flowing like the wind
the pattern
the work of a skilled artist
flowing the the wind
the carpet is beautiful
the work of a skilled artist
this is a carpet

Poem: Light
The light
shining brightly in it's glory
let it reach the farthest lands
over seas and continents
its rays burning confidently
Light
The light
sneaking into corners
passing under doors
flooding the room with a glow
Light
The light
falling away at the speed of sound
back to where it came from
it is dissipating
going, going, gone
Light
The light
yearning to glow brightly
is that a chance
yes, glowing again
spreading it's rays above and beyond
Light
shining brightly in it's glory
let it reach the farthest lands
over seas and continents
its rays burning confidently
Light
The light
sneaking into corners
passing under doors
flooding the room with a glow
Light
The light
falling away at the speed of sound
back to where it came from
it is dissipating
going, going, gone
Light
The light
yearning to glow brightly
is that a chance
yes, glowing again
spreading it's rays above and beyond
Light

Poem: Night
Yes, it is late, but dark shall not keep me from writing.
Night, dark and mysterious
beautiful silence waiting to reach you,
it's fingers grazing your skin,
silence
you move, not wanting to make a sound,
you are like a cat, silent and graceful,
you step on the floor,
the silence is broken
once again, hands reach out, slowly,
as if gliding through the air,
they reach you,
silence
Night, dark and mysterious
beautiful silence waiting to reach you,
it's fingers grazing your skin,
silence
you move, not wanting to make a sound,
you are like a cat, silent and graceful,
you step on the floor,
the silence is broken
once again, hands reach out, slowly,
as if gliding through the air,
they reach you,
silence

Poem of the Week - Spirit
Hi,
I am going to start posting a new poem each week!
Spirit
untouchable, invisible, inevitable
kind, joyful, loving
calm, relaxed, unhurried
This is spirit

The Obama Poem
Change,
hope,
a new light,
Obama.
Wisdom,
truth,
Knowledge,
Obama.
Obama is our spirit,
our hope,
our president.

Obama.
